Honestly, who doesn’t love chocolate? I think its everyones favourite isn’t it?
This super easy recipe gives chocolate a great little face lift with the addition of pepperminty candy canes.
There are really only 2 ingredients, chocolate and candy canes. I added white chocolate to this for the fun festiveness of the white colour, but it actually adds a great creaminess to it too. If you aren’t a fan of white chocolate then just go with the dark, but trust me , the white is great.
First, you will need to break up the chocolate. I do this by smashing the bar, still in its wrapper, on the counter. Then put it in a bowl and melt it over a pan of hot water. This way prevents the chocolate from burning.
Pour the melted chocolate into a lined baking tray. I use a silicone liner to make it easier to lift out later, but greaseproof paper would work. The Bake-O-Glide that I use is from the Aga shop online and it the best thing I have ever used!
Now spread the chocolate into an even layer and while the kids aren’t watching, lick that spatula ?
Pop that pan in the fridge to harden off whilst you melt the white chocolate in the same way.
Once melted, take the pan from the fridge and pour over the white chocolate. Spread it out quickly so it doesn’t start to melt the dark chocolate and if you are lucky enough to have avoided small people then you get to lick that spoon too. Otherwise grudgingly hand it over to that smiling face and move on to the next step.
Put your candy canes into a plastic food bag and give it a quick pummelling so you have a mixture of small pieces and crumbs .
Sprinkle the smashed candy cane onto the soft white chocolate and put the whole thing into the fridge.
Leave it in there for at least 10 mins to set hard.
Once it is set hard you cancel it from the lining paper or bake-o-glide and break it into chunks. If you can resist eating it all in one sitting, its a great little gift to give people. A few pieces popped into small cellophane bags with a fancy bow is the sort of gift anyone would be happy to receive.
Have fun making this easy little project.
Merry Christmas and don’t blame me if your jeans don’t fit in January ?
